Shintaro Inoue is an artist who draws with simple lines and colorful colors based on his experience in calligraphy cultivated since childhood. He mainly works with acrylic paint in a series of portraits depicting women as symbolic figures of the times.
In this exhibition, her third solo show at Ginza Tsutaya, the artist will present, as her first attempt, a large-scale work of more than 1.5 meters in height, consisting of two works in parallel. In particular, a work that juxtaposes two women with exactly the same facial expressions, the freehand lines on the left and right canvases match exactly, almost as if they were reproductions of prints. On the other hand, by changing the background and the color pattern of the lines, they look like completely different people, even though they are the same person, and express the diversity of women living in the modern world.
In addition to these new works, an animated film, for which Inoue created the storyboards, will be projected on a monitor at the venue.
