Ayaka Fariha

Contemporary artist.

Born in Shizuoka Prefecture, currently living in Kyoto.

From the age of two, she attended art classes and learned how important observation skills are in order to draw pictures that reflect her imagination, so she began to spend hours every day observing plants around her. Eventually, the boundary between herself and the plants became unclear, and she felt as if she was immersed in the plants.

From an early age, he gained inspiration from the inner workings of diverse plants throughout the year, and realized that expressing the mysterious and divine microscopic world in painting required advanced and sophisticated technical skills. This realization had a major impact on his subsequent life as an artist.

As a high school student, she studied lifestyle design, and at Joshibi Junior College of Art and Design, she majored in painting, learning a wide range of techniques including oil painting, acrylic painting, mosaic painting, and printmaking. At Kurashiki University of Science and the Arts, she majored in contemporary expression while also learning dyeing and weaving and hand-painted Yuzen dyeing.

Since her student days, she has competed in public exhibitions and other competitions, winning numerous awards for her overwhelming technical ability and original sensibility. After graduating, she trained at a dyeing and weaving studio in Kyoto, learning traditional techniques such as gold leaf and wax-dyeing, and even mastered them to the point where she could make her own kimonos.

Ayaka's works, which utilize a wide range of techniques such as acrylic painting, silkscreen printing, Yuzen dyeing, and antwork embroidery, are consistent in that they are contemporary art with a highly sophisticated design that blends into modern life, with the theme of coexistence between nature and humans.

From 2025, she will begin her full-fledged artistic career as a contemporary artist called AYAKA FARIHA.
